Mr Brendan Smyth MLA will be appointed as Canberra's first Commissioner for International Engagement. The role has been created to support the rapidly growing international engagement efforts of the ACT Government, and will work to provide a more coordinated approach to the ACT's international relations to better support local businesses and attract foreign investment. Film produced in CBR to premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival

Joe Cinque's Consolation will premiere at the 2016 Melbourne International Film Festival. The feature film adapted from a notorious Australian murder case is billed as a major drawcard at this year's festival. Canberra and Wellington sister city agreement

In Wellington on Wednesday 6 July 2016, a formal sister city relationship agreement between Canberra and Wellington was signed. The agreement included programs that aim to facilitate enhanced business partnerships, tourism promotion education and cultural exchange, research and knowledge sharing. ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr is in Wellington leading a 3-day delegation promoting the economic, cultural and social relationship between the two capital cities.
