Digital Enterprise program helps businesses get online
On Friday 1 February 2013, Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy switched on the ACT’s first public connection to the National Broadband Network (NBN) in the Gungahlin Town Centre.
The event also marked the launch of the ACT Digital Hub at the Gungahlin Library, a joint initiative of the ACT Government and the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. The digital hub provides a place where members of the community can go and learn about the NBN and how they can get connected.
The Library will also initially host the Digital Enterprise program. Delivered by the Canberra Business Council, the Digital Enterprise Program will provide free group training and face-to-face support for small-to medium enterprises and not-for-profit organisations on how they can do business and deliver services online. This will help them improve productivity, expand their customer bases and enable jobs growth.
The program will use industry experts, digital champions and case studies to demonstrate the digital success stories of local and interstate businesses. It will also provide hands-on learning on topics such as e-commerce, online marketing and social media.
