The Business and Industry Development (BID) arm of the Chief Minister's Department provides information and support to the ACT business community through mechanisms that support business, industry and regional development.

activities which encourage commercialisation of Canberra's significant pool of Intellectual Property
the internationalisation of businesses
matters relating to skills shortages, through vehicles such as the ACT Skills Commission and the Skills and Business Migration Program
innovation across all business sectors
economic development across the broader Capital Region

The ACT Government offers support for business development in the Territory through a variety of assistance programs targeted at all levels of business and business needs. These programs are aimed at helping business to start, survive and prosper and also to effectively undertake transactions with the ACT and Australian Governments.

How We Do It

Bid works to provide an environment conducive to business formation and development, as well as encouraging the growth of existing businesses. This includes the provision of business policy advice to the ACT Government and the Chief Minister and participation in national business policy formulation through various Council of Australian Governments (COAG) fora.
