The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Skilled and Business Migration Strategy
The ACT Government recognises the valuable contribution that skilled and business migrants offer to the economic development of the ACT. These benefits include an increase in skilled labour resources and knowledge capital, an increase in investment in new and existing business, the introduction of innovative ideas, and expanded exports and trade links.
The aim of the strategy is to attract suitably qualified overseas skilled and business people to live and work in Canberra. The ACT Government offers a range of sponsorships for skilled and business people to work in a skilled occupation or establish a business/invest in the ACT.
Please note: The ACT Government does not issue visas. They are issued by the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), therefore applicants should make themselves familiar with DIAC State and Territory sponsored visa requirements. DIAC information can be accessed via www.immi.gov.au
All applications and submissions are to be made in English. Supporting documents that are in another language are to be accompanied by a certified English translation.
The ACT Government has access to interpreters. If you require interpreter services during meetings with staff, please state this when your appointment is made, advising the language and dialect you want interpreted into English. A fee is charged for interpreter services.
