Canberra based company Auspace Limited is an Australian engineering company serving the needs of science, commercial and defence communities in space engineering, satellite communications and electro-optic instruments. Over 80 Defence personnel and 50 members of Australian Industry attended the live demonstrations, which used Auspace's DM3 modems linked to Parakeet STA terminal to communicate to HMAS Harman via the Optus C1 satellite. This demonstration is the on time and within budget conclusion of the Capability and Technology Demonstrator (CTD) program awarded to Auspace by Defence.

A major growth area within the space-industry sector in recent times has been the development of low-cost satellite systems and associated ground support equipment.
