Canberra BusinessPoint is the ACT Government's business mentoring and advisory service. It provides business operators in the ACT and region with advice and support in the establishment, operation and development of their business.

Canberra BusinessPoint services include mentoring programs, networking events, one-on-one consultation and a range of business development workshops and clinics.

ACT Exporter's Network External Link

The ACT Exporter's Network exists to provide a forum for exporters to network, share knowledge and expand their export activities.

Operating as part of the Canberra Business Council, the aim of the Network is to provide private sector leadership of the Canberra regional export drive.

Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) Scheme External Link

The EMDG scheme administered by Austrade, provides assistance to small to medium (SME) Australian exporters developing export business by repaying part of their promotional expenses. Grants are subject to strict eligibility criteria.

The EMDG scheme:

  • encourages small and medium sized Australian businesses to develop export markets;
  • reimburses up to 50 per cent of expenses incurred on eligible export promotion activities, above a $15,000 threshold; and
  • provides up to seven grants to each eligible applicant.

To access the scheme for the first time, businesses need to have spent $15,000 over two years on eligible export marketing expenses.

Getting into Export Program External Link

Austrade and TradeStart offer a package of customised services that can help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to be ready for export opportunities.  The Getting into Export Program is designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses that are new to export or have limited experience in exporting and international business.

As a participant on the Getting into Export Program, you receive practical information and export strategy development from Austrade's international marketing staff in up to three markets.  Highly skilled export advisers will work with you over 18 months to understand your specific needs and offer practical advice at every stage of your development.  The Getting into Export Program offers the best possible start in international markets for businesses around Australia.

Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC) External Link

Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC) is Australia's export credit agency and has been supporting Australian businesses internationally for 50 years by providing finance and insurance solutions.
