NEW CANBERRA SETTLEMENT SERVICE FOR SKILLED AND BUSINESS MIGRANTS

The Skilled and Business Migration Unit, part of Business and Industry Development have recently launched a new settlement service for skilled and business migrants. The Canberra Settlement Service is offered free of charge to all ACT Government nominated skilled migrants.

The service includes access to the Canberra Information Portal – a website dedicated to providing information to skilled and business migrants who plan to settle in the ACT. The website offers information to help migrants understand Canberra’s lifestyle, including cost of living, child care, schooling options and information about the ACT property market.

The Canberra Settlement Service also offers:
• A meet & greet service at Canberra airport/bus/terminal and transfer to accommodation;
• Initial meeting to discuss settlement needs;
• Brief guided tour of Canberra;
• Job preparation programme, including CV writing, interview preparation and referral to recruitment agencies;
• Advice on finding long term rental accommodation.
