BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT - PART OF THE NEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

Business and Industry Development is now part of the Economic Development Directorate. The Economic Development Directorate will bring together elements of the ACT Public Service responsible for working with the business community in relation to economic development and business support programs, the design and delivery of the government's land release program, tourism and events and sport and recreation. The Minister for Economic Development is Mr Andrew Barr, MLA.

The new arrangements align with recommendations made by Dr Allan Hawke AC in Governing the City State: One ACT Government - One ACT Public Service. The aim of the Hawke Review was to ensure the configuration of the ACT public sector remains appropriate for meeting the Government's needs and delivering its future agenda particularly in the major priority areas of sustainability, housing affordability and transport.
