The PlantScan plant analysis system was launched recently at the CSIRO Plant Phenomics Centre. Developed by CSIRO scientists, the PlantScan System is the first of its kind in the world, integrating 3D reconstruction and infrared overlays, allowing automated analysis of multiple aspects of plant growth over time. This systems will improve scientist's ability to identify plants with optimum traits for growth, function and performance, measuring traits that in the past have not been able to be measured. The system measures traits fifteen times faster than previous methods, with unparalleled accuracy.
The Plant Phenomics Centre is a node of the Australian Plant Phenomics Facility (APPF). The APPF in an initiative of the Australian Government's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, and is supported by the ACT and South Australian Governments, CSIRO, the Australian National University and the University of Adelaide.
