ACT exporters were well represented at the finals of the 47th Australian National Export Awards ceremony held at Parliament House on 20 November 2009.
All the States and Territories completed their own Awards earlier this year, with a total of 77 finalists selected in different categories to go through to the National Awards.
The ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards held in September saw a record number of entries, highlighting new companies and their success stories.
The ACT was represented at the finals in eight categories. Ms Joy Burch MLA, representing the Chief Minister at the National Awards, said the quality of the ACT finalists showcased the excellent exporting capability of the ACT. She said it reinforced a vibrant and diversified exporting community that achieves well above its size on the national stage.
Entering and winning an export award brings many advantages for a business, including: distinguishing a business as a market leader and boosting a company’s reputation; receiving significant media exposure that increases brand awareness and generates market opportunities; and access to influential and valuable networks which can open up new business opportunities.

Ms Burch said the ACT finalists could be enormously proud of their achievements and contributions to the ACT.
