ICT INDUSTRY AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) announced the winners of its iAwards for excellence in ICT for 2010 on August 5.

The category award winners are:

  • Communication – Better Network Services Group for its msXsms Enterprise SMS gateway;
  • e-Government – Random Computing Services Pty Ltd for its ExecCorro for Government;
  • e-Learning – CommsNet Group Pty Ltd for its education book The Essential Guide to Information Technology Security Best Practices;
  • Research and Development – NICTA for its InterfereX;
  • Security Application – CommsNet Group Pty Ltd for its book The Essential Guide to Information Technology Security Best Practices; and 
  • Sustainability and Green IT – Renewable Processes for its E-Waste recycling in Australia.

Presenting the awards, Deputy Chief Minister Katy Gallagher noted that, with the support of the ACT Government and the presence of internationally recognised research and development organisations, the level of innovation and expertise in Canberra continues to go from strength to strength.

The winners went on to represent the ACT at the national awards in Melbourne on 5 August, where NICTA won a Merit Award for research and development for InterfereX, modem technology designed to reduce the effect of interference in mobile communications.
