ACT REPRESENTED BY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AMBASSADOR

One of the ACT’s newly appointed international student ambassadors was nominated by The Australian National University to represent the ACT at the recent International Education Officials Network in Melbourne. The network was convened to discuss better communication and information for students on studying and living in Australia.

The participants at the meeting were representatives from key jurisdictional student organisations, state and territory representatives and Australian Government departments.

Nishadh Rego, who is studying a Bachelor of Commerce at the ANU, was selected to attend the network meeting to represent ACT students and said the networking allowed for student input and the opportunity to discuss the see the proposed updated Study in Australia website.

The ACT’s recently released International Education Strategy fits well with the work of the Network. One of the recommendations from the ACT strategy is the need to develop a Canberra brand for the promotion and marketing of Canberra as a first choice destination for international students.

The ACT Government will continue to work on the recommendations from the strategy, with engagement with key institutions and organisations involved in international education.
