Chief Minister Jon Stanhope has officially opened TransACT’s new Data Centre, acknowledging this significant investment as a strong vote of confidence in the Territory’s economic and business prospects.
‘TransACT is one of Canberra’s most important telecommunications companies and a key player in helping to shape Canberra as the knowledge and creative capital of Australia’, Mr Stanhope said.
The new facility is the most advanced of three operated by TransACT and it has increased TransACT’s data centre hosting capacity by an additional 1,000 square metres capable of supporting hundreds of additional racks in secure and carefully controlled environmental conditions.
‘I congratulate TransACT on its vision, which began in 2001, to make high-speed communication more accessible to all parts of our community’, Mr Stanhope said.
TransACT provides a carrier grade data centre and last mile services that is the final leg of delivering connectivity to domestic, business and government clients. The Data Centre also provides first class connectivity to TransACT's carrier services and third party carrier services.
The data centre amalgamates a secure building, independent power supply contingencies, monitored cooling facilities and multi-tiered security level features that are all incorporated for the benefit of domestic, commercial and government customers.
TransACT is a Canberra based company providing a broad range of communication services to over 100,000 premises across the ACT and Queanbeyan.
Their services include high-speed broadband communications, phone and television services, wireless technology, data storage and backup and disaster recovery services.
TransACT also acts as a one-stop-communications-shop offering centralised communication solutions to its customers.
