POSITIVE RESPONSE TO SUPERMARKET COMPETITION POLICY REVIEW

There has been considerable public interest generated by the release of the Martin Review of Supermarket Competition Policy in the ACT and also to the Government’s response.

The Review was publicly launched by Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope MLA, on 7 October 2009 at a joint media conference with the Review author and former Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Commissioner, John Martin.

Mr Stanhope announced the Government’s general acceptance of the Review’s findings.

An Implementation Plan for delivering the 15 recommendations outlined in the Review is currently being developed. The ACT Community is invited to submit their comments on the recommendations and suggested actions for consideration.
