INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AVAILABLE FOR ACT BUSINESSES

Opportunities are now available, with government support, for ACT businesses to employ talented international students.

The students, who have either completed or finished their studies for the year, are prequalified through the StudentConnect Program.

The Program is supported by the ACT Government in collaboration with the University of Canberra, the Australian National University and the Canberra Institute of Technology. Selected international students can be placed with local businesses as interns, working in their chosen profession.

The scheme is funded by the ACT Government as part of its commitment to grow the international education market in the ACT. Consequently, the cost to employers is minimal, involving the payment of a nominal wage at an hourly rate to the students.

Economic Futures Australia (EFA), which manages the program, undertakes workplace supervision obligations and support to ensure that both the student and the business are able to enjoy a productive relationship.

The Program has proven successful for Canberra businesses including Recruitment Systems, Funnelback Internet, Cordelta, Aspen Medical and Hallet's.

Karyn Walker from EFA knows all the prequalified students well. She can provide a brochure on the program or advise which student may be best suited to your workplace. Karen may be contacted by phoning (0401) 187 210 or emailing kwalker@economicfutures.com.au.
