ICN ACT met with representatives from the Defence Export Control Office (DECO) on 16 October 2009.
Discussions centred around how the ICN could provide support to DECO in identifying companies that may require assistance in complying with defence export control regulations. Of particular interest were businesses in the precision manufacturing and biotechnology sectors. Their products and services may not be specifically Defence related but may be classified as ‘dual-use’ goods and subject to the regulations of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Non-Proliferation Act.
Consultations with ICN are planned to establish a framework for this assistance, including the potential for a fee for service agreement between ICN and DECO.
