INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPLIER ADVOCATE APPOINTED

Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr has announced the appointment of Don Easter as the Information Technology (IT) Supplier Advocate. His task is to help local SME technology companies gain better access to government IT procurement, and to lead business development initiatives aimed at making the sector more competitive.

The IT Supplier Advocate will work with the IT Industry Innovation Council and add value to existing industry-led initiatives, such as NICTA's Australian eGovernment Technology Cluster and the Australian Information Industry Association’s CollabIT Program, by helping them to pursue more ambitious outcomes for SMEs.

Mr Easter has held senior executive roles at EDS Australia and Westpac. He joins a growing number of supplier advocates that already cover the steel, clean technology and rail industries.

Supplier advocates are funded under the Australian Government’s $8.2 million Supplier Advocates Program, aimed at providing business development leadership in targeted industry sectors.
