GROUNDWORK LAID FOR LOCAL HIGH-TECH COMPANIES

The ACT Government has set up a mechanism with three Australian Government-backed business agencies and networks to help provide opportunities for local high-tech growth companies.

Following up on a national agreement between Austrade, Enterprise Connect and the Industry Capability Network (ICN) to share information more cooperatively, the ACT Government’s business and industry development branch convened a meeting with those bodies’ regional managers.

The result is a monthly meeting of client managers from the ACT Government and officers from AusIndustry, Enterprise Connect and Austrade to share information about programs and pipeline opportunities for ACT-based companies. This activity should result in cross-referrals that can provide opportunities for the local companies.

Enterprise Connect is an Australian Government initiative comprising six Innovation Centres that help SMEs in target industry sectors access specialist support, and six Manufacturing Network Centres that provide a range of services to help manufacturers become more productive and innovative.

ICN helps businesses of all sizes across all industry sectors access local, international and project opportunities by matching their capability with the requirements of purchasers and project/procurement managers.
