The ACT Government recently initiated an environment scan and high-level review of its international activities, culminating in the development of the ACT’s International Business Development Strategy. This strategy focuses on international business related programs operated and funded by the ACT Government, through the Business and Industry Development (BID) Branch of the Chief Minister’s Department.
A key element of this strategy is the establishment of a new program, TradeConnect (TCon). TCon will assist ACT companies build global opportunities and enhance their international competitiveness through a new off-shore representation model and small ‘step-up’ funding grants that will facilitate access to an additional range of professional services and activities. All funding will be on a reimbursement basis and will exclude travel and accommodation expenses.
TCon is separate to the trade mission program supported by the ACT Government and will have four distinct funding support categories:
There will be a continuous application process for the program, with monthly assessments. New exporters applying for funding will need to be qualified as being export capable by successfully completing the ACT Government funded Canberra BusinessPoint export program, whilst existing exporters will be assessed in conjunction with the local Austrade Senior Export Adviser.
