ACT Chief Minister's Export Awards Case Study

Shaw Vineyard

A family business, Shaw Vineyard Estate began in 1989 when Graeme and Ann Shaw purchased "Olleyville", the historic 700 acre fine wool producing property dating back to the mid-19th century. The vineyard has grown from a dream and a dedicated passion for wine and the land.

Today, Shaw Vineyard Estate is one of the largest privately owned vineyard holdings in the Canberra District wine region. Eighty-five acres of top quality estate grown fruit, including Riesling, Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, has enabled the Shaws to produce superb quality wines, consistently, year after year.

The family is now focusing on developing an export market in the Asia region, marketing to the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong. The target is to have an established export market within the next 3 years, exporting around 60% of total production.
