Canberra Business Point
Service Launched

Chief Minister and Minister for Economic Development Jon Stanhope will this evening officially launch Canberra Business Point, the ACT Government’s new $4 million business advice and mentoring service.

Mr Stanhope said Canberra Business Point provides ACT business operators with access to expert, professional advice, free of charge.

'The fact these services are free means that every ACT business, large or small now has access to expert advice to help them innovate and grow,’ Mr Stanhope said. ‘I am pleased to say the service has been warmly received with 98 ACT business operators having already attended Canberra Business Point courses in the few weeks since the doors opened on 1 July.

'The ACT Labor Government proudly and actively supports our small business sector because we recognise it as the bedrock of a stable economy, the best generator of jobs for Canberrans and wealth for our community.

'We are working on a number of fronts to assist ACT businesses, including helping them connect with growth markets through trade missions to countries such as India and China. We are also working to attract the skilled workers ACT businesses need through programs such as the award winning Live in Canberra campaign and by participating in programs to help sponsor skilled migrants to move to Canberra.

'The Canberra Business Point program is the latest of the many programs the ACT Government is providing to help ACT businesses prosper and grow. I urge all ACT business operators to get in touch with Canberra Business Point to see how their services can help to grow their business,’ Mr Stanhope said.

The Canberra Business Point program will be delivered by the internationally respected Deloitte Business Solutions.

Mr Eugene Kalenjuk, Partner, Deloitte Canberra said, ‘Deloitte is confident that Canberra Business Point will prove to be an invaluable resource for Canberra businesses. Additionally, with the availability of the new website—tailor made for businesses in the ACT—and our e-learning modules, we will be providing a comprehensive package of services for the many businesses located in the region.’
